Boston Globe on Reducing Pregnant Teen Dropout Rate

Every year, ten thousand adolescents drop out of school, a large number of whom are pregnant and parenting teens who are unable to juggle their education with their new responsibilities as parents. In her article, Solution for dropouts, Yvonne Abraham highlights the importance of keeping pregnant and parenting teens in school, as well as strategies to successfully accomplish this. Among those approaches are safe sex education, access to birth control, reasons to delay sex and pregnancy, and on-campus childcare.

Alliance Executive Director Patricia Quinn was interviewed for the article and is quoted, saying “I don’t know of a single group more tied to the dropout issue than pregnant and parenting teens.”
