Tips on Working with High Risk Fathers

Some of the fathers our programs work with are engaged in high risk behaviors such as gang activity, drug dealing, substance abuse, truancy and a general lack of healthy direction. Roca has been working with young men with high risk behaviors for nearly three decades and recognizes that fatherhood is often THE HOOK that helps these guys become healthier, positive members of our communities. But how do we penetrate the barriers that they often put up to resist engaging in services and changing their behavior? Roca staff will share some strategies they have successfully used for engaging these men and discuss what resources are available for the high risk young fathers in our community. Roca is an established leader in working with high risk young men and their services are expanding to cover more communities in Boston.
