Position: SOL Project Coordinator
Location: Roca, Chelsea, MA

SOL Project Overview:
The SOL (Strengthening Our Lives) Project is an innovative intervention model designed to engage 14-18 year olds who are the highest at risk of facing expulsion, multiple suspensions, and/or dropping out of high school in the city of Chelsea, MA. The SOL Project works in partnership with the Chelsea Public Schools, other educational institutions, and key partners to create and implement new, exciting and effective alternatives that support very high risk young people to stay in school and meet their graduation requirements. The SOL Project provides young people with a youth worker who engages in an intensive relationship focused on driving to behavioral change outcomes, as well as competency building programming including: life skills groups, peacemaking circles, MCAS prep, homework help, career exploration, and pre-vocational training.

Organizational Overview:
Roca is an innovative, nationally recognized organization working with disengaged and disenfranchised youth in Chelsea, Revere, and East Boston, Massachusetts. Utilizing a model of “transformational relationships,” Roca intensively serves 600 young people, provides a less intensive level of support to 150 + young adults and 250 parents, as well as provides outreach and education to a minimum of 20,000 additional people each year. Roca’s vision is for young people to thrive and lead change in their communities. Position Overview:
Working closely with the Director of Programming and Operations, this position will ensure the creation and implementation of quality transformational relationships, engagement, life skills, pre-vocational, and competence building programming for high risk 14-18 year olds who are at risk of dropping out or being expelled from school. Additionally, the SOL Project Coordinator will assist in developing and leading special projects and opportunities as appropriate.

The SOL Project Coordinator leadership and management responsibilities include:
• Understand, practice and promote the vision, mission, values, methods, and models of Roca.
• All deliverables of the SOL Project and Roca
• Ensuring the development and quality implementation of transformational relationships,
engagement, life skills, pre-vocational, and competency building programming for all participants
• Alignment of the program with Roca’s Theory of Change, Goals, Key Initiatives, and Culture
• Planning and implementation of projects and key growth initiatives for the SOL Project
• Leading and managing programming and special
projects of the SOL Project
• Ensure excellent use of the Efforts To Outcomes evaluation system and oversee work with outside evaluators as appropriate
• Supervision, staff development and evaluation, and training
• Lead all administrative responsibilities: reporting,
budget management, grant writing, etc…
• Participate in fundraising as determined appropriate
• Work in partnership with key community partners
and engaged institutions
• Work in partnership with the senior management team of Roca to lead, manage and sustain the organization
• Work in partnership with other program coordinators to best serve young people in the SOL Project
• Other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications: The successful candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:
• At least 10 years of experience working directly
with high risk young people
• At least 5 years of experience in program implementation, management, and supervision
• Demonstrated success in staff supervision and development
• Grant and contract management experience
• Outstanding crisis intervention skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Requirements for the position:
• Travel around the Harbor Area
• Computer Literate
• Working with diverse cultures
• MA Driving Record
• Valid MA Driver’s License

In addition, the ideal candidate for this position will be a trustworthy decision-maker. He/she will have a sense of humor, feel passionate and committed to direct work with high risk youth, and demonstrate interest in coaching and supporting coworkers. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.

Agency: Voces wih Choices, Pregnant & Parenting Teen Program of Southern Worcester County
Position: Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program Youth Counselor

The Pregnant & Parenting Teen Program is a regional, non-profit program designed to support teen parents as well as prevent teen pregnancy. PPT is funded by the MA Department of Public Health to administer the “Voices with Choices” Program in Southbridge, MA. Voices with Choices is based on the California Adolescent Siblings Model, a science-based program that combines case management and health education to support positive youth development.

PPT seeks a Youth Counselor who will provide individual case management and facilitate support groups for the “Voices with Choices” program in Southbridge.

Responsibilities Include:
1. Conduct outreach to recruit at-risk youth in Southbridge via Middle School, High School, and community agencies.
2. Assess teen and family needs, and provide ongoing, individual case management to teens and their families.
3. Plan and facilitate weekly support group for teens.
4. Provide counseling, crisis intervention and health
education to help teens build self-esteem and develop
goals for the future.
5. Network with community agencies and attend pertinent trainings to build skills.
6. Assist with monthly data input, program narratives, and other tasks as needed.

Qualification:
Bachelors Degree with 2-5 years experience in related areas, including social work, public policy, etc. Strong facilitation, organizational and interpersonal skills. Experience
in youth program delivery, health education, community organizing, and bilingual capability (Spanish) a plus.
